The Problem with Pitching Remotely!

Are you pitch-ready in this virtual world?

I’ve noticed WFH – working from home has reached yet another level.

Most of my global clients (particularly in finance) are now focusing on winning new business virtually.   I love working with teams from all over the world as if we’re all in the same room. The other day we had Hong Kong, Munich, and New York across different time zones tuning in for a pitch rehearsal.  It was excellent having a breakfast, lunch, and dinner meet up at the same time!

However, like them, do you find using a video lens rather than your charming face-to-face-in-the-room skills are a lot trickier than you thought?

Clients now ask me….

“How can I have eye contact when we’re on video?”

“How can I tell if they’re switching off?”

“How can I read the room and gauge their body language?

And the classic worries…

“Should we use slides? How many?”

“How can all 8 of us pitch without talking over each other?”

“Should we start with small talk? How do you break the ice on video?”

“What if the tech goes down?

“How should we start when people are dialing in?”

‘How do we fit ALL our information into just 45 minutes? It’s impossible”

Luckily, I’ve been working with pitch teams since my BBC days and I’ve got over 20 years of broadcasting experience to throw into your pitch mix.  In order to pitch successfully in this remote world, you now need to be a broadcaster!
